Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your routes, stops, notes, delivery records and photos are stored on your device. There is no RouteMap account.
- To find addresses, the addresses you enter are looked up with Apple Maps. To put your stops in the best order, the app sends their map coordinates (not the addresses, names or notes) to a routing server that calculates road travel times and doesn’t store them.
- Your location is used to start your route where you are and to find nearby addresses first. We don’t keep a record of where you go.
- To manage subscriptions and measure which ads bring people to RouteMap, the app sends a small set of app and purchase events to service providers. These never include your addresses, stops, notes or photos.
- Advertising identifiers are used only if you allow tracking when iOS asks.
This policy explains how the RouteMap iOS app (“RouteMap”, “the app”), made by Velocity Apps (“we”, “us”), handles information. Questions? Email hq@velocityappdevelopment.com.
1. Information that stays on your device
- Routes and stops. The addresses you add and anything you attach to them, such as customer names, phone numbers, notes, gate or door codes, package counts, time windows and colour tags, plus your route settings, start and end points and route history.
- Delivery records. Whether each stop was delivered or failed, the reason and note you choose, and the time.
- Photos. Proof-of-delivery photos you take are kept in the app’s private storage. If you pick a photo of a label to read addresses from, the app reads the text from it on your device and doesn’t keep or upload the photo.
- Imported files. Spreadsheets you open in RouteMap (CSV or Excel) are read on your device to create stops.
- Address cache. To avoid looking up the same address twice, the app remembers addresses it has already found and their coordinates.
We cannot see or access this information. It may be included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) according to your own settings; those backups are handled by Apple and your device, not by us.
Other people’s details. If you add details about your customers or recipients, they stay on your device apart from the address lookups and routing requests described below. You’re responsible for having the right to use those details.
2. Maps, address search and navigation
RouteMap uses Apple Maps (MapKit) to show the map and to search for and look up addresses. When you search, paste, scan, say or import an address, the address text is sent to Apple to find it on the map, together with the approximate area you’re in so nearby results come first. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; we don’t receive them.
When you tap Navigate, the next stop’s address and coordinates are passed to the navigation app you chose (Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze). From then on, that app handles the trip under its own privacy policy.
3. Route optimization
When you optimize a route, RouteMap needs road travel times between your stops. The app sends a routing server the map coordinates of your stops and of your start and end points, plus the timing settings needed to plan the order (time at each stop, time windows, break, start time). It does not send addresses, customer names, phone numbers, notes, codes or photos.
- Our routing server (route.getroutemap.com) is run for us on rented servers. It uses the coordinates only to calculate the route and send it back. It doesn’t store your routes or keep request logs.
- Public routing service. Until our own server is in use, and as a backup, the app may send the same coordinates to the public routing server of the Open Source Routing Machine (OSRM) project, which provides road routing from OpenStreetMap data and handles requests under its own policies.
Like any online service, a routing server sees your device’s IP address when the app contacts it. If no server can be reached, RouteMap plans the order on your device using straight-line estimates.
4. Label scanning and voice entry
When you scan a package label, the camera image is read on your device to find the address; images aren’t uploaded. When you say an address, RouteMap uses Apple’s speech recognition, on your device when your iPhone supports it. Otherwise your audio is processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We never receive your audio or the camera image.
5. Information shared with service providers
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (App Store, StoreKit) | Your purchase, handled by Apple with your Apple ID | Payments, trials and subscription renewals |
| RevenueCat | An anonymous app user ID, purchase receipts and subscription status, device identifiers | Checking and managing your RouteMap Pro subscription |
| Google Firebase (Analytics, Remote Config) | App events with kinds and counts only (for example onboarding completed and the kind of work you chose, stops added and how, route optimized with the number of stops and miles saved, stop delivered or failed with the reason, paywall viewed, trial started), an app instance ID, device and app information | Understanding app usage, configuring the app and measuring Google advertising |
| Meta (Facebook SDK) | App and purchase events (product, price, currency), device information, and your advertising identifier if you allow tracking | Measuring and improving ads on Facebook and Instagram |
| Singular | Install and purchase events, device information, and your advertising identifier if you allow tracking | Attributing installs to advertising campaigns |
Purchase events contain only the product, price, currency and a transaction identifier. Like any online service, these providers see your device’s IP address when the app contacts them, and may use it to estimate an approximate region for analytics and ad measurement. None of them receive your location, addresses, stops, customer details, notes or photos. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.
6. Tracking and your choices
iOS asks whether RouteMap may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, your advertising identifier is not accessed, and ad measurement uses Apple’s privacy-preserving methods such as SKAdNetwork. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
7. Permissions
- Location (While Using). To start your route from where you are and to show nearby addresses first. RouteMap doesn’t use your location in the background and doesn’t record where you drive.
- Camera. To read addresses off package labels and to take proof-of-delivery photos.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition. To turn addresses you say into stops.
- Photos. Only the photo you pick, through the iOS photo picker, to read addresses from. RouteMap can’t see the rest of your library.
RouteMap works without these: you can type or paste addresses and choose a start address yourself. You can change them anytime in the iOS Settings app.
8. How long information is kept
Information on your device stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Routing servers don’t keep your coordinates after answering. Information held by service providers is kept according to their retention settings and used only for the purposes above.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because your routes never reach us, you control them directly: edit or delete them in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. For information held by our service providers, email us and we’ll help.
California residents: we don’t sell personal information for money. Using Meta and Singular to measure advertising may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out by choosing Ask App Not to Track, or by emailing us.
10. Children
RouteMap is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU and UK), and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
11. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in the United States, the European Union and other countries, using appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
